Investment Management

We offer low-cost investment management services for clients nationwide based on our investment philosophy.

The Investment Process

Our investment management begins with establishing your personal and financial goals, investment objectives, investment time horizon, and risk tolerance.

Next, we’ll develop an Investment Policy Statement, which details how your money will be allocated across various asset classes. The most important asset allocation decision you’ll make is how much to invest in fixed income (bonds) versus equity (stocks). Once you’ve completed and signed an Investment Policy Statement, we’ll help you put it into action.

Third, we’ll help you open new accounts at a discount brokerage firm and then transfer your investments and retirement accounts to this new custodian. We’ll do most of the paperwork for you so this lengthy and time-consuming process will be as simple and easy as possible.

Finally, we’ll invest and manage your assets on a discretionary basis. This means we have your permission to make trades without consulting you before each transaction. As stated in our Investment Advisory Agreement, we will always make investment decisions consistent with your Investment Policy Statement.

Monthly Account Reviews

We will conduct monthly account reviews to determine if your investment portfolio is significantly out of tolerance with your desired asset allocation (as indicated in your Investment Policy Statement). If your portfolio is out of tolerance, we may rebalance it to your desired asset allocation. Our decision to rebalance is based on many factors, including your cash flow needs, how much your portfolio is out of tolerance, tax consequences, and trading expenses. Portfolio rebalancing (as discussed in our key investment principles) can help reduce risk to your portfolio and increase your long-term rate of return.

Quarterly Performance Reports

You will receive quarterly performance reports. Reports include an activity summary, portfolio performance over a range of time periods, and your current account holdings by asset class. These reports will show all your accounts as one portfolio group so you can see the big picture. You will also receive monthly account statements and trade confirmations directly from your brokerage firm.
